Choosing Pomeranian Puppies

Pomeranian puppies are so cute but just like any other puppies, they are a lot of work in the beginning.

Once you have decided you want a pomeranian, then you must decide whether you want an older one or a puppy.

This will depend on you and the time you have to spend on house training your pup. Some people like to have an older dog that has been trained already. This is true of lots of elderly people in particular. But if you have the patience and time, then a puppy is the best way to go.

Because the pomeranian puppies are so tiny, you must give a lot of thought into your family situation. For example, if you have little children you will have to take more care around your pup as children are not as responsible as adults. Pomeranian puppies can be injured very easily if trodden on or dropped. Some fatally. This isn't to say you shouldn't have one if you have young children but you will have to be very, very careful.

Pomeranians also need to be around someone nearly all the time. If they are going to be left alone all day, most days then you shouldn't choose a pom. Poms are people dogs and demand a lot of attention.

Once you have thought this through and have still decided to purchase a pomeranian puppy then you look for a reputable breeder. You can contact the kennel club for a list of reputable breeders. But, even before you do this it is advisable to decide if you want a female or male. I personally love female poms although I have had both male and female.

You also need to decide if you want a pet or a show dog. This decision will be an important factor in choosing your breeder. Remember, buying a show puppy compared to a pet puppy will be more expensive. Even if you don't wish to breed or show your dog it is still wise to buy from a good breeder.

It is important to know the background of the pomeranian puppies that are for sale. You should be able to see the parents or at least the mother of the pups. Talk to the breeders about the parents. You need to know if they are well natured. You will be able to see if the pomeranian puppies have been reared in a good, clean environment. You can see them being interactive with their siblings and mother.

All these things are important when purchasing your puppy. Make sure the puppies have been vet checked. This should include vacinations and worming. Make sure you see evidence of this signed by a veterinarian. You will need to see your own vet to check on the pups health and of course continue vaccinations and worming. When choosing pomeranian puppies, you should look for signs of good health and a happy disposition with good social skills.

If you have any doubts at all about how healthy the puppies are - do not buy them! You may end up in heartache with vet bills you didn't expect! Pomeranian puppies can be expensive to purchase so you don't need extra unexpected bills. Keep looking and you will find the perfect pom pup for you. It may take time as pomeranian litters tend to be small, often only 2 or 3 pups. In the end when you do find that perfect bundle of fluff, you will be very happy.
